Picture this scenario: You are at a zebra crossing and the green light is for cars. You turn to your left, your right and your left again. Assess the situation. Can you sprint across the road, in between the speeding traffic, fast enough to avoid getting run over? Yes? RUN. No? RUN FASTER. Sounds like a situation you have been known to find yourself in? Thought so.
Waiting for the light to turn green is something many pedestrians hate doing. So to combat this, car brand Smart has come up with a VERY smart solution : they've designed The Dancing Traffic Light in Lisbon, Portugal, which has a red icon that dances and keeps you entertained while you wait for the signal to change.
The smart people at Smart constructed a 'dance-room' nearby where anyone could walk in and dance to their hearts content, while the traffic light-icon imitates him/her.
Sort of like Wii, only with dancing! The video claims that 81% more people stopped at traffic lights after this.
India could do with such dancing traffic lights as well, don't you think:
